Pre-Treatment Protocol for Laser Treatments

To ensure the best results and minimize any risks, please follow these pre-treatment guidelines carefully.

2-4 Weeks Before Treatment:

  1. Avoid Sun Exposure & Tanning – No prolonged sun exposure, tanning beds, or self-tanners. Use SPF 30+ daily to protect your skin.

  2. Discontinue Retinoids & Exfoliants – Stop using retinol, tretinoin, glycolic acid, and other exfoliating agents at least 1-2 weeks before your session to reduce skin sensitivity.

  3. No Laser, Chemical Peels, or Facials – Avoid other resurfacing treatments, including microneedling and deep peels, leading up to your session.

  4. Stop Blood-Thinning Supplements & Medications – If possible, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E at least one week before to minimize bruising (consult with your doctor if you’re on prescribed medications).

  5. Hydrate & Maintain a Healthy Skincare Routine – Drink plenty of water and keep your skin well-moisturized in the weeks leading up to treatment.

24-48 Hours Before Treatment:

  1. No Alcohol or Caffeine – These can increase sensitivity and the risk of bruising.

  2. Shave or Remove Facial Hair (if applicable) – If treating areas with hair, shave at least 12-24 hours prior (avoid waxing or depilatory creams).

  3. Avoid Heavy Makeup & Skincare Products – Come with clean, product-free skin on the day of treatment.

Day of Treatment:

  1. Arrive with Clean Skin – No makeup, lotions, SPF, or skincare products.

  2. Take Antiviral Medication (if prescribed) – If you have a history of cold sores, your provider may recommend an antiviral medication to prevent flare-ups.

  3. Wear Comfortable Clothing – If treating areas beyond the face, wear loose clothing to avoid irritation post-treatment.

By following these guidelines, you’ll ensure a smoother, more effective treatment experience with optimal results! If you have any concerns, please consult your provider before your appointment.

Laser Treatment Aftercare Program

Proper aftercare is essential for optimal healing, enhanced results, and minimizing downtime after your Laser Facial. Follow this structured plan for the best recovery experience.

First 24-48 Hours: Immediate Healing Phase

  1. Cleanse Gently – Use a mild, non-active cleanser with lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, harsh scrubs, or exfoliating cleansers.

  2. Soothe & Repair – Apply Instant Radiance Serum (EGF) by Institut’ Dermed to support skin regeneration and enhance healing.

  3. Moisturize & Protect – Follow with The Melt as your healing balm to lock in hydration and promote barrier repair.

  4. Avoid Sun Exposure – Direct sunlight can increase sensitivity and pigmentation risk. Stay indoors or wear protective clothing.

  5. No Sweating or Heat Exposure – Avoid hot showers, saunas, and workouts for at least 48 hours.

Days 2-7: Recovery & Skin Renewal

  1. Continue Gentle Skincare – Keep cleansing your skin with a mild, non-active cleanser.

  2. Hydration & Healing – Reapply Instant Radiance Serum (EGF) twice daily to accelerate cellular repair. Follow with The Melt as a moisturizing balm for deep nourishment.

  3. Sun Protection is Key – Use Powder-Me SPF 30 for light, non-greasy protection throughout the day and Flex Shield SPF 50 by Colorescience for high-level, hydrating sun defense.

  4. Avoid Active Skincare Ingredients – No retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, or strong exfoliants for at least one week to prevent irritation.

  5. Minimize Makeup Use – If needed, opt for mineral-based makeup only.

Days 7-14: Skin Optimization & Strengthening

  1. Reintroduce Gentle Actives (if advised by provider) – After one week, slowly resume your regular skincare, avoiding aggressive treatments until fully healed.

  2. Maintain Hydration & Barrier Support – Continue using The Melt as needed for added moisture and barrier repair.

  3. Sun Protection Remains Essential – Apply Powder-Me SPF 30 and Flex Shield SPF 50 daily to protect new skin cells.

  4. Boost Results with Antioxidants & Peptides – Incorporate nourishing serums and hydrating masks for prolonged glow and skin strength.

What to Avoid Post-Treatment

  1. Sun Exposure & Tanning Beds – Can cause hyperpigmentation and slow healing.

  2. Harsh Scrubs & Exfoliation – Let your skin naturally renew; avoid aggressive treatments.

  3. Picking or Touching the Skin – This can lead to irritation, breakouts, or scarring.

  4. Hot Showers, Steam, & Excessive Sweating – Can intensify irritation and prolong redness.

With consistent care and sun protection, your skin will heal beautifully—revealing a brighter, more even, and rejuvenated complexion. If you have any concerns, reach out to your provider.
